We are Herman van Linschoten and Julia Schlösser.
For many years, we were active together on the Baltic Sea – as owners, captain and mate of several traditional Dutch sailing ships. With our guests, we shared wind, waves and many special moments. During this time, we gained a lot of experience as hosts.
In 2023, we changed course and moved to Madeira – looking for a place where we could continue our love for life by the sea and our passion for hospitality.
Here, just above Porto da Cruz, a small and peaceful village on Madeira’s north-east coast, we found our oasis. Surrounded by green mountain slopes and with views over the Atlantic Ocean, you can enjoy a peaceful atmosphere close to nature and far away from mass tourism. From the terrace, the sea views stretch as far as Porto Santo – a panorama that changes beautifully with the light each day.
The holiday apartment
Villa da Rochinha is a spacious holiday apartment in Madeira for 2 to 6 guests. The apartment is located on the upper floor of our house and has its own terrace with plenty of privacy. We live in the apartment below, so we are nearby if you have any questions, while of course always respecting the peace and privacy of our guests.
The modern and bright loft-style holiday apartment has been fully renovated and designed with an open-plan layout. The kitchen, dining area and living room flow seamlessly into one another and connect directly to the terrace, nature and sea through a large glass frontage with French doors. You can also enjoy beautiful panoramic views from the kitchen.
There are two comfortable bedrooms for up to six guests: a main bedroom with a double bed and TV, and a second bedroom with a double bed and bunk bed. The spacious bathroom has a walk-in shower and a bathtub with jacuzzi function.
Outside, you will find a welcoming terrace with a barbecue, comfortable seating and sea views. Guests also have access to the outdoor jacuzzi in the garden above the apartment.
